Restaurant
BOHINJSKO JEZERO
Key information
Pleasant and top-notch
Gourmet food and genuine experiences have a unique way of bringing people together, while the beautiful surroundings of Bohinj inspire passion and creativity – a heritage that deserves to be cherished and protected.
The terrace at Majer’ca is a welcoming space for hotel guests, passers-by and locals alike, inviting them to sit, mingle, enjoy a drink and even sing. All this with a beautiful view of our highest peaks, including a hint of Triglav.
The story of Majer’ca began just before the global pandemic, when Maja, Danijel and Dule – a visual communications designer, a professor at the Faculty of Management in Koper and a businessman and caterer at heart – came together, united by their shared love of Bohinj, a place they have visited since childhood.
Many guests are unfamiliar with the term majerica before they arrive, but they quickly learn its local meaning. In the Bohinj dialect, majerica refers to a mountain woman, someone who spends her summers high up on the Bohinj plateau, where the cattle graze. This tradition is still very much alive in the region, and the name was inspired by Maja’s mother.

Slovenian mountain traditions on a plate
The restaurant's menu is crafted around seasonal ingredients and is based on close collaboration with local producers and foragers. Created in harmony with the changing seasons, the menu changes four times a year, and blends the rich traditions of the Slovenian mountains with world cuisine.
The menu features local and indigenous delicacies such as Bohinj cheese, lake trout and forest treasures such as blueberries and mushrooms. While the dishes are created to reflect contemporary global trends in food preparation and processing, they still pay homage to the essence of the Slovenian Alps. Each plate is a tribute to the hard work of Bohinj’s residents and farmers, their quality products and their deep-rooted respect for food, a legacy carefully preserved and passed down from generation to generation.
