Where wine is born, not made
Taste tradition in a glass of superior wine. 100% bio!
The Batič Winery grows its grapes according to natural, biodynamic methods, and is probably the only winery in Slovenia to plant its vines in the traditional way, with a high density of vines per hectare. They also follow the traditional vinification processes characteristic of Vipava, which means that the crushed grapes are macerated with no temperature control, and fermented only by naturally present yeast cultures.

Unique conditions for biodynamic agriculture
The Batič vineyards grow where the Mediterranean climate meets the continental and alpine climates, where winds rise from the contrast between warm days and cold nights, protecting the vines from diseases and creating unique conditions for biodynamic agriculture. Winegrowers are collaborating with international partners to develop technologies that encourage natural self-protection of the vines, allowing them to keep their vineyards healthy, without traditional spraying products. One such invention is a special warm air spraying machine.
The traditional method of planting the vines close together forces them to grow deep roots, 10 or more metres down into the earth, to find nutrition and moisture. These deep roots ensure more consistency, and a better quality of grapes, and the plants themselves have more vitality. The Batič family uses homemade biodynamic teas from horsetails, nettles, yarrow, and other medicinal herbs, to improve soil fertility and allow the vines to grow in a natural environment. This way, the vines can produce healthy grapes, and as they say: “Wine made from these grapes is a medicine.”
Grapes
Pinela, Rebula, Vitovska, and Zelen. We believe these local varieties that shaped the history of Vipava valley will be our future.

The harvest at Batič
Šempas – Tokio – World
Almost twenty years ago, the Batič Wines made an impression on Japanese businessman Juki Mori, who started importing Slovenian wines by five different winemakers to Japan. This collaboration led to a bistro with a wine bar in the centre of Tokyo, called simply Batič. With a Slovenian č. The Batič wines are not only exported to Japan, but also to China, South Korea, USA, and a number of European countries, from Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium, to the UK, the Czech Republic and Albania.
