Along the banks of the Krka River, on the edge of the city forest in Novo mesto, time flows at a different pace. Surrounded by flowering plants, traditional wooden beehives, and the gentle hum of bees, the Stankovič family has preserved the rare heritage of women beekeepers for more than a century.

The Honey Garden invites you into a world of honey, knowledge, dedication, and respect for nature. Beekeepers Andreja and Tjaša will introduce you to the fascinating life of bees from an exceptionally close perspective. Without protective equipment, you will observe the queen bee, touch the honeycomb, and experience the vibrant life of the hive. Few people ever encounter bees this intimately, making this experience a truly unique opportunity to discover these remarkable creatures.

In the Apitherapy Bee House, you will unwind to the sounds of nature while breathing in the beneficial bee aerosol. Relaxing above the beehives, listening to their rhythmic buzzing, and inhaling the air from the hives creates rare moments of peace and tranquillity—something increasingly precious in today's fast-paced world.

The Flavours of Honey and the Heritage of Slovenian Beekeeping

For the Stankovič family, honey is not only a symbol of tradition but also an inspiration for gastronomy. The table is filled with honey-based delicacies prepared from ingredients grown on the family estate: aromatic honeys, gingerbread, herbal drinks, mead, and other sweet creations that celebrate the richness of Slovenian beekeeping. Every flavour reflects the character of the landscape and the people who have shaped it.

The experience concludes with a creative workshop where you will craft your own beeswax souvenir—a lasting reminder of a day spent among the bees. The scent of beeswax, the taste of honey, and the memory of the gentle buzzing will stay with you long after your visit.
