Key information
In the company of regular guests
If you want to show visitors the real local character, you must first create a living space for locals.
Kogo Restaurant, which opened its doors in 2021, has achieved this. A thoughtful combination of daily menus and top-notch cuisine, which was noted by Michelin Guide inspectors in 2023, attractive dining rooms and Vinakoper’s largest wine cellar in Istria bring together regular local guests and discerning connoisseurs from all over the world. Both types of guests can feel Slovenian Istria here – on their plates and in their glasses.
Authentic Istrian dishes are the common thread of the restaurant’s menu. They are tasty, fresh and simple, and have no more than four or five ingredients. The chef enhances Istrian cuisine by modernising traditional local dishes in a creative and personal way.
Guests can taste the authenticity of Istria in the easily accessible restaurant with a terrace. There is ample free parking located under a green hill close to the motorway. The restaurant also has rooms suitable for groups: Vinski hram and a private VIP room. You can also enjoy a special experience in the nearby outdoor space called Purissima, among the vineyards and Mediterranean garden, where dishes for guests are prepared out in the open.

A centre of local excellence
Kogo is a centre for various local suppliers: vegetable producers and other farmers, fishers and winegrowers.
Dishes inspired by Istria are accompanied by wines produced by the local partner Vinakoper, which shares the location with the restaurant. In addition to 60 wine labels produced on the Istrian flysch soil near the sea, the restaurant’s selection also includes wines created especially for Kogo. These include a Brut natural sparkling wine, an orange macerated wine and Pet-Nat wines. Exquisite dishes bring out the true value of the wine, while excellent wines can provide inspiration for new culinary creations.
“In the old dialect, kogo means a cook. We understand the term as a promise to rigorously maintain a high level of cuisine and service, and with small steps even improve them,” says Marko Kozel, Kogo’s Director, who also co-founded the restaurant, together with Aljoša Milenar.
