Izola’s Veliki trg, some twenty metres from the sea, is home to Marina Hotel with a restaurant renowned for being one of the best restaurants on the Slovenian coast.
A wisteria pergola providing pleasant shade, a view of the swaying sailing boats in the Izola harbour, and people walking on the nearby promenade. All this makes lunch or a romantic dinner on the terrace especially charming. If you want to hide from the wind in cooler months, you will be able to find space in the interior of the elegant hotel dining room.
The restaurant has a long culinary tradition and is known for its uncompromisingly traceable ingredients. You will notice that at the entrance where guests are welcomed by an interesting board stating precisely who supplied a certain ingredient. You will know that you are eating, for example, Fonda’s sea bass, Prosub’s shellfish, and cheese from Vremščica.
The staff’s professional approach, which is an additional reason for the many guests and the popularity of the restaurant, should also be highlighted.
Chef Ivica Evačić – Ivek swears by the flavours of traditional homemade Istrian and Mediterranean dishes, which win over even the most discerning guests. Cold pressed olive oil from their olive grove on the hill of Belvedere gives them a special twist.

A short and smooth path from the sea to the plate
Their principle is that everything must go to the table as soon and as authentically as possible. To this end, all of the treats from the sea are fresh and caught the same day.
Recipes are adjusted to seasons and only the best ingredients from local providers are selected. Their stars are mussels, Adriatic shrimps, octopus salad, calamari, anchovies, crabs, and of course, fresh daily catch. And everything the sea and local producers have to offer – prepared with love.
